City Announces 2026 Street Paving List
Watch for the 2026 Street & Alley Paving Project to get started soon! Contractor E&B Paving has tentatively scheduled milling and repaving to begin on or around Friday, August 28. From start to finish, it usually takes about three to four weeks to complete all the streets and alleys in the project. Work progress can change due to weather and other factors.
Please pay attention and watch for “No Parking” signs as work reaches your area.
The streets included in this year’s project are marked on the included map:
- Crossfell Way – Keswick Drive to Appleby Court
- King’s Cross – Crown Hill Drive to cul-de-sac
- Theater Avenue – West Northpoint Avenue to Hauenstein Road
- Quayle Run – West Park Drive to cul-de-sac
- Esther Street – German Street to West Park Drive
- Freedom Street – Division Street to East Tipton Street
- York Court – Willow Bend to cul-de-sac
- Willow Bend – York Court to Duncan Drive
- Walmart Drive – Northpoint Avenue to Hauenstein Road
- Walton Street – Walmart Drive to North Jefferson Street
- Swan Street – Old US 24 to Sabine Street
- Allen Street – Riverside Drive to Indiana Street
- Hannah Street – William Street to 150 feet southwest of Tracy Street
- Emerald Lane – Engle Road to cul-de-sac
Ever wonder how the City decides which streets to repave each year? Here’s a look at how we develop the annual paving list. Huntington uses the Pavement Surface Evaluation & Rating system, or PASER, to regularly update our evaluations of local road conditions. PASER considers cracks, potholes, patches and other pavement problems and assigns every road a score of 1 (failed) to 10 (excellent).
Streets that score a 4, 5 or 6 are selected most frequently for milling and repaving. Streets scoring below a 4 often require more extensive repairs below the pavement surface, so they are considered separately for more in-depth maintenance and rehabilitation.
Our goal every year is to mill and repave as many streets and alleys as possible. Each year, City Engineering determines the available budget for the repaving project and develops the paving list to make the most of those funds. This year’s project – including approximately 3 miles of streets and 1 mile of alleys – was awarded to the lowest, most responsible bidder at a total cost of about $724,400.
