The visit included participation from the UNICEF Representative in Jordan, Marc Rubin, the KfW Development Bank Country Director in Jordan, Matthias Schmidt-Rosen, and other officials from the ministry and the association.
Bani Mustafa emphasized the value of the partnership with Germany in implementing social initiatives and developing the Makani programme in coordination with UNICEF, noting that it operates through community centres, the Jordan River Foundation, the Islamic Centre Charity Society, and Tkiyet Um Ali. She added that the government is working to incorporate the programme into the National Social Protection Strategy (2025–2033) to ensure sustainability and strengthen collaboration with international partners.
She further stated that Makani “represents a shift towards integrated and sustainable social protection systems, combining education, protection and psychosocial support, which promote investment in human capital.”
Radovan highlighted that the programme “provides a safe space for Jordanian and Syrian children to learn and interact together, reflecting Jordan’s efforts to support refugee education.” She noted that Germany backs these centres because they “complement the public education system and help address learning gaps and promote mental health and social solidity.”
Schmidt-Rosen remarked that Germany’s assistance aligns with its commitment to social stability and sustainable development in Jordan, stressing the significance of investing in children and youth. He also described Makani as “a global model for integrated services,” emphasizing the collaboration with the Jordanian government and national institutions.
