Google Launches Major AI Hub in Berlin

(MENAFN) Google revealed on Thursday that it has inaugurated a significant artificial intelligence (AI) center in Berlin to enhance its digital infrastructure in Germany and support the nation’s expanding AI ecosystem.

Situated in the historic Mitte district at the Museumsinsel Forum, the new facility unites teams from Google DeepMind, Google Research, and Google Cloud under a single location, according to a Google statement.

The hub also includes an “AI demo space” intended to exhibit cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies and applications.

German Digital Affairs Minister Karsten Wildberger commented at the launch that Google’s investment underscores Germany’s strong attractiveness as a high-tech hub, highlighting that startups, small and medium-sized enterprises, and industrial firms are likely to gain from initiatives developed at the center.

Berlin Mayor Kai Wegner added that the hub’s inauguration demonstrates robust confidence in Berlin’s potential and its long-term technological and economic prospects.

Meanwhile, Google’s Central Europe President Philipp Justus described the hub as a platform for collaboration and discussion, aimed at reinforcing Germany’s position in the international AI landscape.

The opening also coincided with the unveiling of several academic collaborations. Partnering with the Technical University of Munich and Helmholtz Munich, the company intends to advance responsible AI applications in the fields of medicine and single-cell research.
