Zelensky Announces Major Aid, Defense Deals at Munich Security Conference

(MENAFN) President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced Friday that Ukraine has obtained a substantial €90 billion ($97.2 billion) assistance commitment from Denmark, alongside new agreements to collaborate on weapons manufacturing. The developments came during high-level engagements at the Munich Security Conference in Germany.

Zelenskyy stated that Denmark, as it prepares to assume the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, has backed a decision to direct the funding toward strengthening collective security for the 2026–2027 period.

During the three-day gathering in Munich, the Ukrainian president also met with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, as well as officials involved in the so-called Berlin format discussions. Their talks centered on enhancing Ukraine’s air defense capabilities and safeguarding critical energy facilities from continued attacks.

In his meeting with Støre, Zelenskyy highlighted efforts to reinforce Ukraine’s aerial protection through the PURL initiative, a mechanism designed to support the acquisition of US-made missiles for air defense systems.

"Protected skies over Ukraine are one of the key factors that will force Russia to end this war," Zelenskyy stated, while thanking Norway for its ongoing supply of NASAMS missile systems.
